Water Damage

We went to Columbus this weekend to finish moving our things out of our apartment and so I could go to the tri-stake music day (featuring Sally DeFord who is an excellent speaker!). Jon dropped Jackson and I off at the music day and he and Katie went to clean out the rest of the apartment. When he arrived at the apartment he called and told me that our mattress was sitting outside of our apartment. He went inside the apartment to find that our carpet was gone and something happened with the water (which explains the high water bill we received last month.)

The people who own the apartment came in to fix whatever happened, tore out our carpet, threw away some of our things without communicating with us and left our mattress outside. They also turned the AC down to 60 degrees for who knows how long. We pay the AC bill. They did all of this sometime in late August or early September without saying a word to us.

I have never felt so frustrated or violated. We signed in our contract that they could only walk in with our permission. Shouldn't that mean if they have to walk in for emergency work they call us immediately after? No note was left explaining what they did and we came in to an apartment without carpet. We are currently paying rent for them to take apart and not put together our apartment. We had thought about staying the night at the apartment yesterday. I'm glad we decided against it because we would have been in an awkward situation.

Anyway, here's to all the people with bad luck. One day our bad luck will change to good.
